Community Involvement

DuBois Consultants was founded on the principle of giving back to the community. In fact, one of founder Ajamu Webster’s goals was to strengthen and revitalize the Kansas City community—in part by creating more business role models for young people. He not only achieved that goal, but continues to emphasize it by practicing community involvement in a wide spectrum of arenas.
Today, all DuBois employees participate in regular community service at a high level, including serving as board members in several organizations. A few areas where DuBois has made an impact by contributing our time and money:
- Kansas City Board of Parks and Recreation — committee dedicated to oversight of all parks within the Kansas City, Missouri area. Ajamu Webster serves as Commissioner.
- National Urban League of Greater Kansas City — community organization that provides direct services, research, and advocacy to assist individuals in reaching their fullest potential, through economic empowerment and greater quality of life.
- African-Centered Education (ACE) Collegiums Campus — college preparatory academy dedicated to helping students develop personal life skills, social responsibility, and leadership skills, for grades pre-K—9th grade.
- W.E.B. DuBois Learning Center — community learning center dedicated to raising the performance level of underserved communities through educational services and applied technology.
- Trace’s Place — helps local girls transition safely into adulthood by providing resources, services, and support — including a safe and stable home.
- Urban Summit — organization dedicated to improving wealth, health, and learning by bringing together local officials within communities located in the urban core.
- Society of Marketing Professionals (SMPS )— organization dedicated to advocation, education, and connection of premier leaders in the building industry.
